Tennis Director - Walter Seidel

Walter grew up in South Africa where he traveled extensively as a junior, competing in many tennis tournaments and achieving a top 10 ranking for boys 18-under.

He was recruited by Abilene Christian University in Abilene , Texas to play on a full tennis scholarship. He helped lead Abilene Christian University to the NCAA Division II National Championships. After his collegiate experience, Walter played on the Satellite and Future's tournaments around the state of Texas . Currently, Walter can be found playing in Men's Open Tournaments around the Pacific Northwest .

Walter currently holds a United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Level 1 Certification and is certified by the South African Tennis Coaches Association (SATCA). He also holds a USTA Sports Science Level I Certification and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Marketing & Management from Abilene Christian University. He has helped coach many top sectional and nationally ranked juniors and has experience teaching both juniors and adults of all ages and ability levels. He has been a coach for several USTA league teams and he currently serves as the USPTA Board of Directors Northern Oregon Representative.

Head Teaching Pro - Cris Valverde

After playing tennis for Woodburn High School and Oregon State University, Cris began his teaching career as the Junior Development Program Coordinator for Kids 'N Tennis, a non-profit tennis organization located at the St. John's Racquet Center.

After four years with Kids 'N Tennis, Cris moved to Northern California working as a private coach and playing on the Nor Cal Open and Challenger Circuits.

Returning to Portland in 2002, Cris became Head Teaching Pro here at The Irvington Club. He has a USPTA Pro I Certification and has worked with the USTA as a National Clinician, Competitive Training Center Coach, and a Zonals Coach.

Cris lives with his much, much better half Dana and their son Rafael. They also have two dogs, Monchichi and Chavi, and a cat named Jack.
