Irvington Club Adult Class Policies

Everyone may sign-up for a class one week in advance (for example, if you sign-up for a Monday 5:30 class, you may sign-up at 6:30 the previous Monday). Full ClubMembers have first priority. Everyone else will be placed on the class waitlist and will be invited in the following order: Associate Members, Club Waitlisters, Non-Members. It is the responsibility of players on the class waitlist to call the Club to see if they got in the class. For a morning class, call at 6:00 pm the night before to see if you are in. For an evening class, call at 9:30 am the day of to see if you are in.

If a full Club member wants to play in a class at a higher level (i.e. a 2.5 member wants in a 3.0 class), then that full Club member will be placed on the class waitlist. At the designated times listed above, the full Club member may call to see if they got in the class. In this situation, a player (member, waitlister, or non-member) of the same NTRP rating as the class will get into the class prior to the member at a lower rating (for exmaple, if it is a 3.0 class, a 3.0 waitlister would get in ahead of a 2.5 member). This is done to ensure the class level stays at its designated NTRP rating level.

If a Club waitlister takes a class, it does not count towards the three guest visits per month.

All players (members, waitlisters, and non-members) must cancel a class 24 hours in advance (or more). Failure to cancel a class within 24 hours or not showing up for a registered class will result in being charged the full amount of the class.

If you have any questions regarding the weekly classes, please contact Walter Seidel or Cris Valverde at 503-287-8749.

Doubles Switch, 3.0 & Above (Thursdays, 12:00-1:00 pm)

Come on down during your lunch hour and play some intense tennis! This is intended for NTRP Levels 3.0 and above. You will partner up and play a quick doubles match (first to 11 points). You will then move up or down courts and switch partners. It's a great way to play with and against a variety of people in an exciting format. Walter will be organizing the whole thing so you just worry about playing. This will be held every Thursday from 12:00-1:00 pm. You can sign-up for the following week one week in advance at the end of class. Sign-up today! Cost is $5 for members and $7 for non-members.

The Art of Doubles Class

7.0 Mixed Doubles Combined - Tuesdays 6:15-7:30 pm (11/11-12/16)

This intense doubles class will use the fundamentals laid out by Pat Blaskower. Each student will receive the book called The Art of Doubles so you can learn both on and off the court how to become a better doubles player. If you are intimidated to poach, don't know how to serve and volley, need to learn strategy, or simply want to improve your doubles games, then this class is for you! This is an six program and you and your doubles partner must commit to all six weeks. Cost is $100 (members) per player and includes the book The Art of Doubles. Sign-ups are now available, but when you sign-up, you MUST sign-up your doubles partner as well as this is intended to be a class designed to help you and your regular doubles partner build together.
